HSF: il senso di un diverso viaggiare…

HSF: the meaning of a different way of travelling...

[...] Patrizia Novello's works are oriented towards more intimate coordinates: in the introspection of her own thoughts and the time - mental and physical - of her residence, she brings back the interiority of an experience practised through her virtuous conceptual painting. In keeping with the minimalist choice of colours that characterises her latest works, we find a series of canvases - and a valuable artist's diary - which have now become the starting point for new research that is still ongoing. The Landscape from her cycle, a transcription of time spent in the American metropolis, is a sort of diary of an emotional journey, a summary in images – fictitious and intellectual – that lead directly to the soul of visions and visual suggestions.
Her romantically concise poetry strips away imagery to suffice with just a few words, and a series of panels – as many as the days on the calendar and corresponding to those of her stay at the HSF – in which the stratification and glazing of colour correspond to that sedimentation which is a metaphor for the accumulation of stimuli and past experiences and their intimate reworking and the nuances given by the passage of time. The landscape in question, as the title effectively states, comes from her, from the pictorial writing of her deepest feelings.
